Sigils of the Cyberspace: How Modern Magicians Hack Reality with Pop Culture

Magic is evolving, and a lot of it is happening online. This talk dives into how modern magicians, especially Chaos Magick practitioners, are blending pop culture, digital tech, and personal mythologies into bold, experimental forms of ritual.
Based on my research in online occult communities, mostly through Discord, Reddit, forums, I’ll share examples of how people are using video games, music, internet aesthetics, and even erotic media in their magical work. From game avatars used as spirit allies to sigils made from glitches and playlists turned into love spells, these aren’t just edgy gimmicks, they’re meaningful, living practices.
I’ll offer a few core categories to help map this experimental terrain: pop culture invocation, techno-erotic rituals, digital trancework, or emotional remixing. This isn’t only about tradition, it’s about what works, what resonates, and how belief mutates in digital space.
Whether you’re already doing this kind of magic or just curious how others are weaving spells from the fragments of modern life, this session offers a glimpse into where the current is flowing now.
