Visceral Connection
Visceral Connection is a cyanotype series rooted in magick. The process itself is an alchemical act with sunlight, revealing layered traces and connections between my drawings. This traditional method creates unique sun charged prints that capture exposure, time, and the unseen as I create real time collages of my drawings. The process is unpredictable requiring me to let go of control and open up to the unseen forces at work. In this brief moment, light becomes the force transforming the invisible into new images and meanings, uncovering hidden connections between all living beings.
Bio
Colina van Bemmel is a multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam whose work bridges the personal and the universal through symbolism and material transformation. Drawing from nature, the Western mystery tradition, and contemporary shifts in technology, she explores deeper layers we can sense but not always name. After a period working in film, Colina shifted toward slower, more intuitive and embodied ways of making, allowing material and process to guide her. Her practice is often shaped by cycles of growth, decay, and renewal, echoing these rhythms within the artistic process itself.
She is interested in a beyond-human perspective, exploring the forces that move through us when we open to deeper, older rhythms of life. Her work invites a reconnection with what lies beyond objectivity, the living current beneath all things in an ever shifting world.
