TRAHOR FATIS: Paintings as Portals
“To bring a graphic proposal in which the use of symbols—as archetypes derived from the practice of spiritual currents emanating from the other side, the forbidden side—offers works that, through their intensity, seek to challenge the spectator by confronting them with the piece itself, generating an internal dialogue between the work, the former spectator, and the abyss that lurks behind it.”
Bio
Néstor Ávalos (born June 5, 1983) is a Mexican graphic artist renowned for his dark, esoteric imagery. He trained in graphic design (earning a degree from Universidad de León, Irapuato) and largely taught himself painting and illustration.
Avalos works across multiple mediums – from canvas to digital – often blending painting, drawing and graphic design. His art draws on mystical and occult themes inspired by ancient myths and religious iconography. As one profile notes, his imagery is “rich with terror, blending classic iconography with rich occult symbolism and horror that seems to be brought from Hell itself”
In his own words, Avalos is “influenced by the occult and magick, characterized by a strong symbolism where the Spirits and the character of the Devil test our mind”.
