The Dark Mirror: A Live Ritual of Roma Magic and Divination

The Dark Mirror: A Live Ritual of Roma Black Magic and Divination
Presented by Mihaela Minca and Her Daughters of the Moon Coven

I, Mihaela Minca, respectfully propose a powerful live performance and spiritual experience entitled “The Dark Mirror”, rooted in the deep, ancient traditions of Roma witchcraft. Alongside my daughters—Ana, Casandra, Anda Mihaela, and Kalyandra—we will open a sacred space at Occulture 2025 to conduct a real black magic ritual, designed to confront the shadow, break energetic chains, and cleanse participants of hidden curses, inner blockages, or ancestral burdens.
This is not theater. It is living magic.

We will begin with a brief introduction to the history and misunderstood power of Roma black magic, explaining its protective and karmic justice dimensions. Contrary to its sensationalized image, black magic in our tradition is not about harm—it is about restoration of balance, punishment of injustice, and deep energetic transformation. We will invite the audience into the ritual with full awareness of its purpose and impact.

The full performance will last 30 minutes, structured into four distinct phases:
• Opening & Protection (5 min): A ceremonial invocation in Romani/Romanian to call upon our ancestors and protect the space. Salt, smoke, and symbolic anointing will be used to purify the room and participants.
• Banishing Ritual (15 min): Participants will be invited to write down on parchment something they wish to banish—an enemy, a fear, a personal burden. These are ritually burned in a cauldron while we chant and drum to raise the necessary power. The ashes will be sealed with symbolic wine to represent sacrifice and release.
• Symbolic Divination (7 min): We will demonstrate two traditional Roma forms of divination. I will read the palm of one volunteer to interpret their spiritual and emotional path. Casandra will cast corn kernels and interpret their pattern to deliver a collective message. Anda and Kalyandra will assist with intuitive messages received through the mirror and spiritual channeling.
• Closing & Blessing (3 min): We seal the ritual with a chant of protection and a final collective blessing. The energy is closed, and the ashes of the ritual are respectfully contained to be buried later.

This presentation offers the public a direct encounter with the living practice of Roma spiritual tradition—mystical, unapologetic, and deeply feminine. Though condensed in time, it preserves the core of our magical work: transformation through fire, spirit, and ancestral truth. My daughters and I bring not only performance, but a living current of power passed down through blood, language, and sacred ritual.

We come not only to show who we are—but to awaken what lies dormant in others.

Bio

I am a third-generation practitioner of traditional Roma witchcraft, born and raised in Mogoșoaia, Romania. My life’s work is devoted to preserving the sacred rituals passed down through my maternal lineage, while also adapting them to guide and protect people in today’s complex world. My spiritual path is one of healing, power, and deep connection—with nature, with ancestors, and with those who seek my help.

At the core of my practice is my coven—my family. I lead it alongside my four daughters: Ana Buzea, Casandra Buzea, Anda Mihaela, and Kalyandra. Each of them carries forward our ancient traditions with her own unique gifts. Ana and Casandra are deeply rooted in our heritage and have become powerful ritualists and counselors in their own right. Anda Mihaela brings sharp insight and a modern touch to our work, bridging tradition and contemporary spiritual needs. Kalyandra, my youngest, breathes new life into our coven, making our rituals resonate with the younger generation.

Our work has touched people around the world. I have been featured in international media such as CNN and NPR, and in 2017, I received the Award of the International Council of Witchcraft for Excellence in the Art of Wizardry during my visit to Los Angeles. These recognitions have helped to open people’s eyes to the beauty and depth of Roma witchcraft, which is too often misunderstood or misrepresented.

In 2025, I founded Romania’s first Witch School—a dream I carried for many years. This school offers teachings not only to Roma but also to non-Roma individuals who seek to understand our spiritual traditions with respect and authenticity. Through workshops, hands-on rituals, and spiritual mentorship, the school nurtures a new generation of practitioners committed to healing and balance.

My mission does not stop with spiritual work. I believe in creating meaningful change for my people, and I am working to found Romania’s first Roma political party. I aspire to lead it as its first woman president, combining spiritual leadership with civic action. I want our traditions not only to survive but to thrive in the public eye—with pride, dignity, and honor.

As I prepare to perform at the Occulture Conference 2025, I bring with me not only decades of experience and tradition, but also the collective energy of my daughters and our coven. Together, we invite you into the world of Roma mysticism—into a living tradition that has endured through centuries, still vibrant, still powerful, and still full of magic.
