The Illuminates of Thanateros

You are invited to step into the currents of chaos.
Together we will explore the living current of chaos magic, not as history retold but as a force unfolding through practices, challenges, and transformations of working magic collectively.
The intent of this practice is to re-wyrd our World, to pour our voices into the stream and to remind one another – you are the main character, you are not alone, and Chaos is forever birthing itself anew.
We will breathe as one and with each breath the stream will flow faster, and the rhythm will charge the current, until it overflows its banks and carries us forward.

The Illuminates of Thanateros (IOT) is an international order of magicians dedicated to the theory and practice of Chaos Magic. Our work is grounded in experimentation, direct experience, and the disciplined use of altered states of consciousness – what we call gnosis – to explore and shape reality.
The name Thanateros, combining the forces of death (Thanatos) and sex (Eros), reflects our focus on transformation, balance, and the creative tension between opposites. Within the Pact, members collaborate in temples across the world, sharing practices, research, and ritual work while honoring diversity of belief and method.
Rather than following fixed dogma, we treat belief as a tool – adopting, adapting, and discarding models of magic as needed. This pragmatic, innovative approach has made the IOT a living laboratory of esoteric exploration. Today, we continue to push the boundaries of magical practice, fostering illumination, empowerment, and creative evolution.
