To Mega Therion: The World Teacher

In the years following the First World War members of the Theosophical Society around the world awaited the imminent arrival of the next World Teacher, He who would present the Teachings that would form the religious basis for Modern Civilization. While TS leadership expected that the Lord Maitreya would use Jiddu Krishnamurti as his vehicle, in Tunis Aleister Crowley had other plans. Initially from North Africa and later from Germany (following the failed Weida Conference), Crowley launched a campaign to have himself, in his role of the Magus of the Aeon, To Mega Therion, recognized as being the true World Teacher. Despite the efforts of his supporters inside the Theosophical Society, the recognition was denied him and the campaign was a failure – or was it?
