The Breastplate of the Priest
An Ancient Path to Divine Dialogue
The breastplate of the priest is considered to be a rare and powerful form of ancient Hebrew divination, known as the Hoshen. Unlike many other biblical conversations with the divine, which were often spontaneous or chaotic, this practice offered a structured and intentional method for receiving heavenly answers.
The breastplate held twelve special crystals, known in the texts as “the Mothers of all Crystals.” Each crystal represented one of the twelve tribes of Israel – the Hebrew zodiac – and served as a gateway to divine wisdom through deep channeling. In this workshop, the deeper meanings of these twelve crystals will be presented alongside their spiritual roles, and their archetypal relevance to the twelve tribes of Israel, based on tradition and ancient writings.
The breastplate is known to have had various uses of asking questions and receiving answers. It was known to be a tool of paramount importance with matters of warfare. During the days of the Temple, those who asked to have the great honor of praying on the central stage and offering sacrifices were first required to receive approval from the breastplate of the priest. The formats of divination used with the breastplate included Yes/No answers, symbolic responses through archetypes, and even phonetic appearances of words or names – creating a whole system of divine communication.
Offering a demonstration of some of these practices, the workshop is a chance to be introduced to this ancient spiritual art of channeling and crystal work. Though it is said to be about 3,000 years old, it still speaks to our need for guidance, clarity, and connection.
